PETALING JAYA: Youngster Nur Diana Hussin got it right in her second attempt to justify her top billing in the SportExcel-NSC-Milo-MTBC national junior bowling circuit by winning the girls' Masters title in the second leg at the Ampang Superbowl in Sungai Petani yesterday.

The lass from Kuala Lumpur defeated Perak’s Syaidatul Afifah Hamidi 225-159, 188-192 in the final for a two-game score of 413-351.

In the first leg of the circuit in Selangor last month, Diana also qualified for the elimination round as the top seed but she was knocked out in the semi-final stage.

Triumphant: Nur Diana Hussin and Mohd Amin Abdul Razak posing with their winning medals in the Masters events.
This time, the 16-year-old maintained her composure to beat three bowlers to take the title.

Before setting up the final match against Syaidatul, Diana beat Kedahan Nurul Nadia 330-284 in the quarter-finals and then knocked out Diyana Zuhaili of Penang 350-302 in the semi-finals.

Only the top eight boys and top eight girls after one day of qualifying over 16 games competed in the knockout stage.

In the boys' competition, Mohd Amin Abdul Razak of Perak emerged as the winner, beating team-mate Teh Lit Qing 421-364 in the final.
