PAHANG LEG - 4TH DAY RESULTS

It was the perfect gift for Shahira and Shamira's mother on mother's day when both of them qualified for the finals of the Girls Graded category. Shahira beat her sister to claim her second circuit title of the year. This time, she was also ranked 8th going into the knock-out round, similar to the Selangor Leg where she also won. I guess she loves being the underdog. ;)

The host state of Pahang claimed the Girls Open title when Nazira Nasir beat Nur Alyany from Johor. Nazira bowled a 2 games total of 440, white washing Alyany who only managed a total of 347 pinfalls.

It was a really close fight in the Boys Open Category between Muhd Amsyar of Perak and Ros Qusyairi of Negeri Sembilan. Amsyar had an open frame in the 9th frame and that cost him the Boys Open Champion title. Qusyairi or better known as "Kuchai" by his friends and family beat Amsyar by a just 2 pins. This is his first title and he is definitely gunning for more.

Boys Graded Finalist - Syed Muhd Asyraf (PRK), Mohd Afnan Syafiq (PAH)

Perak took the Boys Graded title when Syed Mohd Asyraf pushed aside Mohd Afnan Syafiq from Pahang 362 - 280 pinfalls. Syed who had his team mates cheering him on and with his high spirited attitude didn't give any chance to Mohd Afnan Syafiq who I think was nervous since this was his first time entering the finals.

Under-12 Champions - Muhd Hafiz Fikri (SEL) and Nastasya Roslan (SEL)

Nastasya Roslan and Muhd Hafiz Fikri from Selangor emerged as Champions in the Boys and Girls Under-12 categories. For Nastasya, this is her second consecutive SportExcel title of the year. She won the Perak Leg last month. She started bowling early last year and trains 3 times a week in Ampang Superbowl, Summit USJ. Lets see whether she is able to win all 4 legs plus the GP Finals. In second position is Aressa Asyirah from Negeri Sembilan and Nur Nabilah of the host state, Pahang came in third.

The Pahang Leg is Mohd Hafiz Fikri first title. He was 2nd in Perak, losing out to Ahmad Aidil of Kuala Lumpur. This SK Sri Langat student has been bowling for 3 years and is trains under Mat Salleh twice a week.

The Under-12 categories are making its debut in the SportExcel Circuit this year as more and more youngsters are interested in the sport and are taking it up seriously.

PAHANG LEG - 3RD DAY RESULTS

Girls Preliminary Round Leader - Nurain Mustafa (KED)

The Under-12 category took off this morning with 37 boys and girls participating. After 6 games, Mohd Nazmi Fikri and Nurain Mustafa came out tops in their category. Nurain scored higher than Mohd Nazmi Fikri with a dynamite 211 pinfalls in the last game to gain a total of 1014.

In the Boys Graded Round 2, Mohd Amirul from Kedah maintained his dominance, going into tomorrow's knock-out round as the favourite.

Girls Graded Top 3 - Hanan Fateha (KUL), Nur Shamira (KUL), Ainaa Khairina (PRK)

It was the same scenario for the Girls Graded category where Ainaa Khairina also stayed in pole position. Come to think of it, all the Round 1 leaders maintained their composure to go into the knock-out round as top seeded. Thus, Nazira Nasir and Mohd Aili Amyrul (picture below) are leading in the Girls and Boys Open.

PAHANG LEG - 2ND DAY RESULTS

Today was the longest day ever...

Mohd Amirul Che Amat - Boys Graded Round 1 Leader

Started out with the Boys Graded Squad A with only 18 bowlers bowling comprising of bowlers from Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Terengganu and 1 extra Pahang bowler. Mohd Amirul Che Mat, the champion of the boys graded event in Perak took over the lead from Mohd Afnan Syafiq of Pahang with a massive average of 199.50 after eight games.

Ainaa Khairina (PRK) - Girls Graded Round 1 Leader

Then came the girls graded dominated by Ainaa Khairina of Perak with an outstanding total of 1542 pinfalls to lead Sharifah Marissa of Selangor by 107 pinfalls and Nur Shamira of K.Lumpur by one pin more.

The Squad B which had the most bowlers bowling followed after and Mohd Zafiq Syaddiq came close to Amirul's total but fell short of 35 pins.

The last squad was the combination of the Boys and Girls Open bowlers who only had 20 bowlers; 15 boys open and 5 girls open. The reason for the very disappointing participation in the open category is due to the SUKMA Games which will begin at the end of this month and bowlers representing their state are all busy doing their final preparations. The leaders in the Open categories are Mohd Aili Amirul of SSBP and Nazira Nasir of the host state, Pahang.

The Under 12 bowlers will be bowling early tomorrow morning followed by the 2nd Round of all the other categories.

PAHANG LEG - 1ST DAY RESULTS

Mr Choo, Castello and I arrived in Pahang around 4.30pm. The first squad was scheduled to start at 8.15pm, for all the Pahang Graded bowlers. There were altogether 30 Pahang Graded bowlers; 18 Boys and 12 Girls.

Out of these 30 bowlers, Mohd Afnan Shafiq and Noor Afiqah rose to the occasion and outshone their teammates. Afnan is 13 pins ahead of Mohd Fahmi while Noor Afiqah has a little more cushion from her closes compatriot, Tunku Elliya with 1370 pinfalls to 1328 pinfalls.

Tomorrow morning, the Squad A of the Boys Graded will be bowling and bowlers from Negeri Sembilan, Kedah and Terengganu will have their chance to outdo Mohd Afnan....if they can!

Below is the amended schedule of the Pahang Leg. Amendments are made according to the number of participants.

Due to the lack of entries for the Girls Open Category (less than 8), only 4 bowlers will qualify for the knock-out round after Round 2; directly to the semi-finals.
