Sorry for not reporting yesterday as the last squad which was the Open Category's 1st Round finished at 1.30am! Uncle Choo, Ian and I were all already half asleep waiting for the bowlers to finish playing. The delay started with the 1st squad where quite a few bowlers did not turn up and the lanes had to be reshuffled. That squad finished 30 minutes late and it was followed by the Girls Graded Squad which delayed it an additional 30 minutes and so the delayed went on.........
So...today, I'm just gonna report a summary of yesterday's and today's events. The leaders from yesterday going into the 2nd round were Muhd Aizudeen Mustaqim (SEL) for the Boys Graded, Selva Nivashini (SEL) for the Girls Graded, Teh Lit Qing (PRK) for the Boys Open and Cheryl Cheong (KUL) for the Girls Open.
This morning, the Boys Graded bowled first and Louis Liaw from KL regained his lead when Aizudeen and Amir from Selangor fumbled slightly and dropped to 3rd and 7th position respectively. There were cheers from the Negeri Sembilan contingent when 3 of their boys graded qualified for the knock-out round. The other 2 that made the Top 8 were Perak's Mohd Azlan and young debutant Abdul Basit from Sekolah Sukan Bandar Penawar.
Under-12 Leaders
Nur Ain Mustafa and Wan Nadzmi Fikri
The KL Leg is the final qualifying leg for the Under-12 bowlers to collect points to qualify for the Grand Prix Finals. 24 boys and 21 girls bowled their hearts out in 6 games to try and qualify for the Masters Finals. Nurain Mustafa from Kedah and Wan Nadzmi Fikri from Selangor outshone the others to come out tops.
Girls Graded Round 2 Leader Selva Nivashini and her parents
The Girls Graded Top 28 bowlers were next to take the lanes. Selva Nivashini from Selangor succeeded in defending her top spot when she had lines of 168, 171, 202, 158, 140 and a bombastic 234 in the last game. She leads Nur Shahira from KL by a massive 108 pins. Selva has been missing the cut for the knock-out round in the last few legs by just a few pins. Finally, she got her game right and took the lead with style.
Open Leaders
Teh Lit Qing (PRK) and Cheryl Cheong (KUL)
The last squad of the day was the second round of the Open Category. Both Teh Lit Qing and Cheryl Cheong dominated their category. Lit Qing adapted well to the lanes while Cheryl was comfortable at her training ground. Tomorrow, Lit Qing will meet team mate Equine Lam. Cheryl will also meet team mate Nur Diana Hussin in the quarter final stage of the Knock-Out Round.
