SELANGOR LEG - 2ND DAY RESULTS

Mohd Aziem Azemi

Today was the "PERFECT" day for Mohd Aziem Azemi. During the Boys Open and Girls Open 1st round in the morning, there were already 2 announcements made by YK Choo, "This is a special announcement, Mohd Aziem Azemi, bowling on lane X and X has 7 consecutive strikes!". These 2 announcements however, did no justice to Aziem's when both 8th frame throws was not a strike. Many blamed it on YK Choo's annoucement. No offense Uncle Choo.

but...

in Round 2 later in the evening, there was 1 more announcement for this young chap and, it was on his last game. This time, he rolled a strike on his 8th frame, then another on his 9th frame and another on his 10th frame. Once more, the announcement of 10 consecutive strikes echoed the alley. With fingers crossed by all his friends and family, he made his 11th strike! Now it was the moment of truth, the 12th and final throw that will either win him RM1000.00 or nothing at all...maybe not nothing at all, the high game prize at least. He took a few minutes to compose and calm himself while the crowd was shushed before this decisive throw. When he released the ball, he pulled it too much and it when to the 1/2 pocket.......STRIKE!!!! The crowd went wild and he was of course, overjoyed! CONGRATULATIONS AZIEM!!! What a great start to the new year!!

In the Boys Graded category, 10 year old Mohd Rafiq Ismail from Kuala Lumpur outplayed all the older boys to come out tops after 14 games. This chubby young star has been bowling for 4 years with inspiration and guidance from his older brother Mohd Reza who was a KL bowler a few years back. Mohd Rafiq who is a southpaw is currently studying in SK Taman Bukit Indah and has represented his state to two MSSMs, bringing back gold medals each time. He was the Cari Champion CHAMPION in 2006. Tomorrow he will have to face another hurdle when he goes into battle in the Knock-Out Round. He will have to overcome 3 different bowlers to be named Selangor Leg Boys Graded Champion.
